La tres veces ganadora del Grand Slam, Naomi Osaka, ha invertido en el equipo de fútbol femenino profesional North Carolina Courage.
Formado hace cuatro años, el club compite al más alto nivel en los Estados Unidos: la Liga Nacional de Fútbol Femenino.
La joven de 23 años, que no ha revelado qué parte del club posee, dijo: «Las mujeres que invirtieron en mí mientras crecía me hicieron quien soy hoy. «No sé dónde estaría sin ellos», agregó la jugadora japonés.
«A lo largo de mi carrera, siempre he recibido mucho amor de mis compañeras atletas, por eso me enorgullece compartir que ahora soy dueña de North Carolina Courage».
North Carolina Courage ha disfrutado de un éxito constante desde su formación en 2017. El equipo ganó el Campeonato Nacional de la Liga de Fútbol Femenino en 2018 y 2019, encabezando la tabla y ganando los play-offs en ambas campañas.
Osaka se está preparando actualmente para jugar en el Abierto de Australia. El número tres del mundo ganó el evento en 2019 y también ganó el US Open en 2018 y 2020.

The 23-year-old, who has not revealed how much of the club she owns, said: «The women who have invested in me growing up made me who I am today.
«I don’t know where I would be without them,» added the Japanese player.
«Throughout my career I’ve always received so much love from my fellow female athletes so that’s why I am proud to share that I am now an owner of North Carolina Courage.»
The North Carolina Courage have enjoyed consistent success since forming in 2017.
The team won the National Women’s Soccer League Championship in 2018 and 2019, topping the table and winning the play-offs in both campaigns.
Osaka is currently preparing to play in the Australian Open.
The world number three won the event in 2019 and also won the US Open in 2018 and 2020.
