But four minutes after the restart, a cross from Sergio Reguilon was headed back across goal by Kane and nodded in by Bale.
Kane then added his name to the scoresheet on 52 minutes, firing a stunning first-time effort from 20 yards past Vicente Guaita and into the far corner.
The Spurs striker netted his second on 76 minutes, converting from close-range after being teed up by Son Heung-min.
A third successive league win moves Spurs up to sixth on 45 points, two points off the top four, with Palace staying 13th on 34 points.
