MLS All-Stars vs. Tottenham Hotspur
2015 AT&T MLS All-Star Game
July 29 | 9 pm ET | Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, Commerce City, Colo.
TV: Fox Sports 1, UniMas, TSN
The 2015 AT&T MLS All-Star Game is almost upon us, with the MLS All-Stars set to face off against English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Wednesday night (9 pm ET, FOX Sports 1 and UniMas in the US, TSN in Canada).
The matchup will mark the first time the All-Stars have ever played Tottenham, who made their way from London to Denver on Sunday. MLS has a solid history against English Premier League sides in the annual showcase, posting a 4-2-1 record against Chelsea, Everton, Fulham, Manchester United and West Ham in past All-Star Games
If the All-Stars are to improve upon that record on Wednesday, they’ll need to put in a strong showing against a solid Spurs side that finished fifth in the 2014-15 Premier League season.
US STARS, DP’S, FORMER SPURS HEADLINE ALL-STAR ROSTER
This year’s All-Star roster is one of the most talented ever assembled, with a slew of USMNT stars and high-profile Designated Players set to take the field in Colorado on Wednesday. While Michael Bradley, Kaká, David Villa and Sebastian Giovinco will certainly garner a good bit of attention, many will be focused on Wednesday on a pair of former Spurs set to suit up for the All-Stars: Seattle Sounders forward Clint Dempsey and LA Galaxy striker Robbie Keane.
Keane is one of the most prolific forwards in Tottenham history, sitting in 10th on the club’s all-time goals list with 122 strikes in all competitions. The Irish international played a total of 303 games for Spurs, and lead or co-lead Tottenham in scoring in four different seasons.
Dempsey had a much shorter run at White Hart Lane, scoring seven goals in 29 appearances in one season with Tottenham before moving to Seattle in the summer of 2013.
