Former world No.1 Ana Ivanovic kept her Roland Garros campaign rolling with a focused and determined performance against Japan’s Kurumi Nara en route to a 7-5 6-1 win.
These players had met only once before, back in 2014, when Ivanovic won in two comfortable sets. Today was no different, the Serb looking very sharp, notching up an impressive 35 winners against the world No.91.
For the second match in succession Ivanovic got off to a flying start, overpowering her Japanese opponent with winners from all corners of the court. The Serb could do no wrong, and found herself up 3-0 in only a matter of minutes.
The 2008 French Open champion was tested, but broke in the crucial 12th game, producing two beautifully executed forehand winners to close out the opening set in 55 minutes.
