Ashton Eaton won the decathlon on Thursday night, reinforcing his title as «world’s greatest athlete» for the second Olympic Games in a row.
Eaton held off France’s Kevin Mayer in the final event, the 1,500m, finishing with 8,893 points. Mayer had 8,834 and Canada’s Damian Warner was third with 8,666. The 28-year-old Eaton won last year’s world championship with a world-record 9,045 points.

Eaton supero al Frances Kevin Mayer en el evento final de los mil 500 metros, finalizando con 8 mil 893 puntos. Mayer termino con 8 mil 834 puntos y el Canadiense Damian Warner termino tercero con 8 mil 666 puntos.
Eaton de 28 años gano el año pasado el titulo mundial con record de 9 mil 45 puntos.
