Omar Fraile del Dimension Data, se impuso en la undecima etapa del Giro d’Iitalia sobre 161 kiloemtros de recorrido y con llegada a Bagno di Romana, la primera victoria de su carrera en una competencia de las grandes.
El pedalista español saltó del lote en el primero de 4 ascensos en el recorrido desde Florence y estuvo al frente del grupo en los siguientes dos premios de montaña, grupo que incluian a Mikel Landa, Rui Costa,Pierre Rolland y Tanel Kangert.
Tom Dumoulin, arribo con el grupo compacto, donde estaban todos sus principales rivales, excepto Geraint Thomas y Steven Kruijswijk quienes fueron dejados en el ultimo de los 4 ascensos.

Omar Fraile (Dimension Data) claimed the first Grand Tour victory of his career, winning from the breakaway on an open and exciting medium mountain stage 11 of the Giro d’Italia.
The Spaniard made the breakaway that formed over the top of the first of four climbs on the 161km leg from Florence to Bagno di Romana. He spent the next two climbs in a two-man front group with Mikel Landa, but finished it off in a four-up sprint against Rui Costa (UAE Team Emirates), Pierre Rolland (Cannondale-Drapac), and Tanel Kangert (Astana), who trailed in in that order as the rest of the breakaway closed in.
Tom Dumoulin (Sunweb) held onto his pink jersey, coming across the line in a select GC group that contained all of the GC contenders save for Geraint Thomas (Team Sky) and Steven Kruijswijk (LottoNL-Jumbo), who were dropped on the last of the four climbs.
