Goals from Granit Xhaka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang helped Arsenal to defeat Manchester United 2-0 and take fourth spot from their opponents, who suffered their first Premier League defeat under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
In an entertaining encounter, Xhaka put the Gunners ahead on 12 minutes with a swerving shot that wrong-footed visiting goalkeeper David De Gea.
Romelu Lukaku struck the crossbar and Fred hit a post for the Red Devils either side of Xhaka’s goal.
After the break, Marcus Rashford flashed a free-kick narrowly wide and Bernd Leno saved well from Lukaku.
But Arsenal were always a threat too, and when Alexandre Lacazette was brought down by Fred, Aubameyang coolly stroked in the penalty on 69 minutes.
Unai Emery’s side replace Man Utd in fourth place, with 60 points. United are two points back in fifth.
