El hielo marino ant\u00e1rtico fue el m\u00e1s bajo registrado en el mes de junio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El informe mensual de Copernicus\/ECMWF (Centro Europeo de Pron\u00f3sticos Meteorol\u00f3gicos a Medio Plazo) forma parte de la red internacional de actividades de seguimiento del clima de la comunidad de la OMM que sustenta los informes sobre el estado del clima mundial de la OMM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clima global en junio: el tercero m\u00e1s c\u00e1lido registrado<br>La temperatura media mensual de Europa fue la segunda m\u00e1s alta registrada. Antarctic sea ice was the lowest on record for the month of June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The monthly report by Copernicus\/ECMWF (European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts) &nbsp;is part of international network of climate monitoring activities by the WMO community which underpin WMO\u2019s State of the Global Climate reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ane4bf-datap1.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/wmocms\/s3fs-public\/ckeditor\/files\/Screenshot_2022-07-07_at_16.04.11.png?w=640&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Global climate in June: 3rd warmest on record\" title=\"June was 3rd warmest on record, says EU's Copernicus\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The monthly mean temperature for Europe was the second highest on record. Southern parts of the continent from the Iberian Peninsula across France and into Italy most affected. Daily maximum temperatures in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2022\/jun\/17\/weather-tracker-heatwave-europe-summer-solstice-temperatures-france-spain\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Spain<\/a>, France, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/climate-environment\/2022\/06\/28\/record-heat-europe-italy-rome-scandinavia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Italy<\/a>&nbsp;soared above 40\u00b0C and the extreme heat exacerbated the ongoing&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/climate.copernicus.eu\/precipitation-relative-humidity-and-soil-moisture-june-2022\">drought<\/a>&nbsp;conditions in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2022\/jun\/17\/italy-drought-po-river-climate-crisis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Po river basin<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Numerous June temperature records were broken across&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/climate-environment\/2022\/06\/20\/france-germany-spain-europe-heatwave\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">France and Spain<\/a>, with Biarritz, France, and San Sebasti\u00e1n, Spain, being two prime examples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This heat also extended across North Africa, where&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/weather\/features\/62001812\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tunisia<\/a>&nbsp;equalled its monthly temperature record. Also, at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.met.no\/publikasjoner\/met-info\/_\/attachment\/download\/d488d495-4773-47a8-bd8f-61a9b3f5d512:619d40354f4baffaf68c3d32e5390140ec7969bc\/MET-info-06-2022.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Banak<\/a>&nbsp;in northern Norway, a daily maximum temperature of 32.5\u00b0C was recorded, which if confirmed, would be a new June record for the county in which it is situated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Above-average temperatures were also found across Siberia and large parts of Asia, where heatwaves in central and northern&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/china\/power-consumption-soars-northern-china-premier-issues-warning-2022-06-22\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">China<\/a>&nbsp;led to increased electricity demand. Temperatures of greater than 35\u00b0C were recorded for five days in a row in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/world-asia-61976937\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tokyo, Japan<\/a>, which is a record. In North America, high temperatures occurred in Texas, with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonpublicmedia.org\/articles\/news\/weather\/2022\/07\/01\/428096\/june-2022-was-the-hottest-june-in-houston-history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Houston<\/a>&nbsp;having its hottest June on record;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/climate-environment\/2022\/06\/30\/texas-heat-drought-sanantonio-climate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">San Antonio<\/a>&nbsp;suffered from this extreme heat too. The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.siasat.com\/saudi-to-sizzle-at-50c-3-arab-countries-records-highest-temp-2352525\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Middle East<\/a>&nbsp;also saw above-average temperatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Drought<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In June 2022, a large part of Europe experienced lower-than-average precipitation, including over the UK, Ireland, Italy, much of the Iberian Peninsula and over a large region stretching from the northern Balkans across eastern Europe and over north-western Russia. In the Po Valley, in northern Italy, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/publications.jrc.ec.europa.eu\/repository\/handle\/JRC128974\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">continuing<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/climate.copernicus.eu\/surface-air-temperature-june-2022\">drought<\/a>&nbsp;is affecting river&nbsp;transport,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/green\/2022\/07\/01\/po-valley-farmers-living-through-italys-worst-drought-for-70-years\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">agriculture and energy management<\/a>. Conversely, precipitation was higher than average over most of France, Iceland, regions of central Europe, western Russia, the southern Balkans and Turkey, according to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/climate.copernicus.eu\/precipitation-relative-humidity-and-soil-moisture-june-2022\">Copernicus Hydrological Bulletin.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ane4bf-datap1.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/wmocms\/s3fs-public\/ckeditor\/files\/Screenshot_2022-07-08_at_11.47.34.png?w=640&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Drought in Europe spring\/summer 2022\" title=\"Drought in Europe spring\/summer 2022\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dwd.de\/DE\/leistungen\/besondereereignisse\/duerre\/20220706_trockenheit_europa_2022.pdf?__blob=publicationFile&amp;v=6\">The Deutscher Wetterdienst<\/a>, which is one of WMO\u2019s regional climate monitoring centres, conducted a detailed analysis of the drought which, in some parts, dates back to winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the central Mediterranean region, spring was the fourth driest since 1901, in Germany almost all springs since 2009 have been too dry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00abDrought might also prevail for the next three months in large parts of Europe, \u00bb&nbsp;it said. In the long term, depending on the extent of future global warming, precipitation in the Mediterranean region will decrease. In summer, there is a risk of drought spreading to Central and especially Western Europe in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sea ice<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Temperatures in June were much higher than average over large parts of Antarctica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/climate.copernicus.eu\/sea-ice-cover-june-2022\">Antarctic sea ice extent<\/a>&nbsp;reached 12.6 million km<sup>2<\/sup>&nbsp;on average,&nbsp;1.2 million km<sup>2<\/sup>&nbsp;(9%) below the 1991-2020 average&nbsp;for June.&nbsp;This is the lowest extent for June in the 44-year satellite data record and is marginally lower than the value for June 2019 (second-lowest), according to the Copernicus report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is noteworthy that 2019 and 2022 were separated by near-average June values in 2020 and 2022, highlighting the large interannual variability that has often characterised the Antarctic sea ice data record since 1979.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The monthly average Arctic sea ice extent in June 2022 reached 11.2 million km<sup>2<\/sup>,\u00a00.3 million km<sup>2<\/sup>\u00a0(or 3%) below the 1991-2020 average\u00a0for June.\u00a0This value ranks 12<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0lowest for June in the satellite record, which starts in 1979, and comes after a near-average extent in May 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>public.wmo.int<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>El mundo acaba de tener el tercer junio m\u00e1s c\u00e1lido registrado, seg\u00fan el Servicio de Cambio Clim\u00e1tico Copernicus de Europa, con episodios generalizados de calor extremo.
