Landa, sin embargo, no pudo levantarse. El personal médico lo contactó rápidamente, y la televisión italiana sugirió que se había lastimado el hombro. Finalmente, lo metieron en una ambulancia y lo llevaron a un hospital local.
«Tenía dolor, no estamos seguros de si se ha fracturado la clavícula o la muñeca», dijo el director deportivo de Bahrein Victorious, Franco Pellizotti.

The USA’s Joe Dombrowski (UAE Team Emirates), leader of the mountains classification, clipped the signalman and crashed but was able to eventually ride slowly to the finish.
Landa, however, was unable to get up. He was quickly reached by medical staff, with Italian television suggesting he had hurt his shoulder. He was eventually placed into an ambulance and taken to a local hospital.
“Mikel was our team leader and he was here to try to win the Giro. We’ll race on and we’ve still got Pello Bilbao and Damiano Caruso.”
