Egan Bernal mantuvo su ventaja de 45 segundos en la cima de la clasificación del Giro de Italia tras una actuación completa de los Granaderos en la etapa 12.
El equipo se dispuso a controlar un día difícil que contó con la segunda elevación más grande de la carrera. Después de un comienzo rápido, el equipo estableció un ritmo, antes de llevar al grupo a la meta en Bagno di Romagna.
Salvatore Puccio trabajó mucho antes de ceder el control a Filippo Ganna. El equipo no tuvo problemas con la escapada, que finalmente se despejó después de una salida rápida y más de una hora de carrera.

«Ha habido mucha elevación hoy y creo que ha sido un día muy duro para todos. Estamos contentos porque terminé bien, pero ha sido una etapa muy dura.
«Atacaron en la cuesta arriba pero cerramos la brecha porque la moto estaba muy cerca de ellos. Cerramos la brecha muy rápido. Nibali atacó de nuevo en la bajada pero no queríamos correr el riesgo de seguirlo. Creo que hizo bien.
«Necesitamos una etapa plana con seguridad. Pero a veces este tipo de etapas son más difíciles. Mañana tenemos que estar concentrados. Este es un Gran Tour y para los muchachos de la general no hay un día fácil. Tienes que ir a tope todos los días. día.»

El jueves también vio al equipo en acción en la Ruta del Sol. Ethan Hayter comenzó el día con el maillot amarillo, pero retrocedió cuando se lanzaron ataques en la última subida.
Carlos Rodríguez y Eddie Dunbar partieron en la persecución, con Rodríguez retrocediendo del grupo líder, pero aguantando para terminar séptimo. The team set about controlling a tough day which featured the second largest climbing elevation in the race. After a rapid start the team set a tempo, before bringing the group into the finish in Bagno di Romagna.
Salvatore Puccio got through a lot of work early before handing over control to Filippo Ganna. The team were untroubled by the breakaway, which finally went clear after a rapid start and over an hour of racing.
The only battle the team faced on the day came briefly on the final climb, with eighth placed Giulio Ciccone pushed on with his Trek-Segafredo teammate Vincenzo Nibali.
Jhonatan Narvaez and Jonathan Castroviejo set a good pace, before Gianni Moscon and Bernal himself came across to shut down the move. Nibali went again on the subsequent descent but was only able to eke seven seconds at the line.

«There was a lot of elevation today and I think it was a really hard day for everyone. We are happy because I finished well, but it was a really tough stage.
«They attacked in the uphill but we closed the gap because the moto was really close to them. We closed the gap really fast. Nibali attacked again on the downhill but we didn’t want to take the risk to follow him. I think we did well.
«We need a flat stage for sure. But sometimes these kind of stages are more difficult. Tomorrow we need to be focussed. This is a Grand Tour and for the GC guys there isn’t an easy day. You need to go full every day.»
Thursday also saw the team in action at Ruta del Sol. Ethan Hayter began the day in the yellow jersey but slipped back as attacks fired on the final climb.
Carlos Rodriguez and Eddie Dunbar set off in pursuit, with Rodriguez slipping back from the lead group, but hanging on to still finish seventh. The young Spaniard sits fourth overall, moving up to fourth overall – 1:40 back on new race leader Miguel Angel Lopez (Movistar). Hayter now sits ninth on GC.
The team controlled much of the queen stage, with Luke Rowe, Leonardo Basso and Owain Doull getting through a lot of riding on the front.
