Seven years after she last lost to a player outside the top 100, Agnieszka Radwanska was dumped out of Roland-Garros 2016 at the hands of the world No.102 Tsvetana Pironkova. When their fourth round match began on Sunday night, the No.2 seed had total control and was leading 6-3, 3-0 by the time rain stopped play at 8.36pm, with the Bulgarian’s forehand leaking almost as many errors as the sky was to deliver raindrops. That scoreline was exactly as expected, given Radwanksa’s 9-2 career lead over her opponent, including all four of the encounters on clay.
But once play resumed 39 hours later on Tuesday lunchtime, Pironkova was all over her opponent, reeling off ten straight games to deliver a hammering from which Radwanska could not recover, even with the aid of another three-hour rain delay. Pironkova, a semi-finalist at Wimbledon six years ago, won 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, and will face down Sam Stosur for a place in the last four.

La numero 2 tomo control de las acciones en partido que comenzo el domingo en la noche, pero debido a las fuertes lluvias debido terminar el martes….Radwanszka tomo ventaja de 6-3 y 3-0 y todo hasta ahi parecia normal, pero 39 horas después, cuando se reinicioel compromiso las consas cambiaron, Pirinkova se fue con todo sobre su oponente y le dio vuelta al marcador….al final se impuso con parciales de 3-6, 603 y 6-3 para avanzar a cuartos de final donde se medirá a Sam Stosur, por un lugar en semifinales. Pironkova fue semifinalista en el abierto de Wimbledo hace 6 años.

The wait was worth it in the end for Sam Stosur.
Having started her fourth-round match against No.6 seed Simona Halep at Roland-Garros on Sunday evening before the rain arrived, it finally came to its conclusion just before 4pm on Tuesday afternoon, the 32-year-old Australian reaching her first Grand Slam quarter-final since the 2012 US Open with a 7-6(0), 6-3 win.

La espera como en el caso anterior, favorecio a Stosur..
El partido habia comenzado el domingo en la noche y se pudo concuir este martes y la australiana de 32 años termino superando para sorpresa de todos a una de las favoritos con parciales de 7-6 y 6-3.
