La Estadounidense Ginny Thrasher de 19 años de edad, ganó la primera medalla de oro para Estados Unidos y de los juegos Olimpicos Rio 2016, al imponerse en disparo con rifle desde 10 metros.
Thrasher, supero a la China Du Li en la ronda final con un total de 208.0 puntos estableciendo una marca para la final. Du se quedo con la medalla de plata gracias a sus 207.0 puntos.
Esta dorada es la tercera para el equipo de rifle de aire de Estados Unidos. la primera desde que Nancy Napolski-Johnson ganará el oro en el 2000.
RIO DE JANEIRO — Shooter Ginny Thrasher won the USA’s first gold medal of the Rio Olympics, pulling off an upset in the women’s 10-meter air rifle event Saturday morning.
Thrasher, 19, beat silver medalist Du Li of China in the final round with a total of 208.0, setting an Olympic record in the finals. Du finished with 207.0.
Yi Siling of China took bronze as the first medals in Rio were awarded.
The gold is the third won by the United States in women’s air rifle, the first since Nancy Napolski-Johnson took gold in 2000.
