The Reds will take on former player Mike Phelan’s Tigers, with the first leg at Old Trafford before travelling to the KC Stadium for the return fixture.
The other last-four clash has paired Southampton, who knocked Arsenal out on Wednesday with a 2-0 triumph at the Emirates Stadium, with Liverpool.
The first leg will take place in the week commencing 9 January 2017 and the second leg follows in the week commencing 23 January 2017, with a place in the final at Wembley at stake.
