Lewis Hamilton ganó el domingo el Gran Premio de Fórmula 1 de España Pirelli 2017, ya que Mercedes, Ferrari y Red Bull sólo TUvieron un solo coche en el circuito de Barcelona-Catalunya. Hamilton tomó la bandera 3.4s por delante del título rival Sebastian Vettel, con Daniel Ricciardo en un distante tercer lugar.
Una excelente carrera para Force India vio a Sergio Pérez y Esteban Ocon terminar cuarto y quinto, respectivamente, con Nico Hulkenberg logrando igualmente un impresionante sexto para Renault. Carlos Sainz se llevó el séptimo lugar en su carrera por Toro Rosso, mientras que Sauber celebró sus primeros puntos de 2017 gracias al octavo puesto de Pascal Wehrlein. Daniil Kvyat de Toro Rosso y Romain Grosjean de Haas completaron los diez primeros.
Hubo acción desde el principio de la carrera. Valtteri Bottas en el segundo Mercedes hizo el contacto ligero con la rueda trasera derecha del Ferrari de Kimi Raikkonen en la vuelta 1.
Fue suficiente para inclinar a Raikkonen en el Red Bull de Max Verstappen, ambos se retiraron con daño de la suspensión, mientras que Bottas continuó tercero, perseguido por Ricciardo y Force Indias. Bottas se retiraría más tarde con falla del motor.
Había poco que escoger entre el ritmo de Vettel y Hamilton y cuando terminaron su segunda y última parada, fue el alemán quien mantuvo los márgenes más estrechos, a pesar de que el británico se quedó brevemente al lado cuando el Ferrari regresó del pit lane en la vuelta 38.
Pero con Hamilton en los neumáticos blandos más rápidos para su paso final y Vettel en el medio, era solamente una cuestión de tiempo antes de que el Mercedes barrió en la pista con un pase fácil asistido por DRS en la vuelta 1 en la vuelta 44, Sin desafío a la bandera.

Hamilton took the flag 3.4s ahead of title rival Sebastian Vettel, with Daniel Ricciardo a distant third.

An excellent race for Force India saw Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon finish fourth and fifth respectively, with Nico Hulkenberg an equally impressive sixth for Renault. Carlos Sainz took seventh in his home race for Toro Rosso, while Sauber celebrated their first points of 2017 thanks to Pascal Wehrlein’s eighth place. Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat and Haas’s Romain Grosjean completed the top ten.
There was action from the outset at the start of the race. As Vettel got the jump on polesitter Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas in the second Mercedes made light contact with the right-rear wheel of Kimi Raikkonen’s Ferrari in Turn 1.
It was enough to tip Raikkonen into the fast-starting Red Bull of Max Verstappen, both of whom went off into retirement with suspension damage, as Bottas continued in third, pursued by Ricciardo and the Force Indias. Bottas would later retire with suspected engine failure.
There was little to choose between Vettel’s and Hamilton’s pace and as they completed their second and final stops, it was the German who retained the narrowest of margins, despite the Briton getting briefly alongside as the Ferrari rejoined from the pit lane on Lap 38.
But with Hamilton on the quicker soft tyres for his final stint and Vettel on the medium, it was only a matter of time before the Mercedes swept into the lead with an easy DRS-assisted pass into Turn 1 on Lap 44, after which he went unchallenged to the flag.
