MIAMI (June 16, 2017) – The Miami FC returns to NASL league play after advancing to the Round of 16 in the U.S. Open Cup, taking on Jacksonville Armada FC at home on Saturday, June 17. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Riccardo Silva Stadium.
Top Two
The Miami FC and Jacksonville Armada FC hold the top two spots in the NASL standings, with Miami ahead of their in-state rivals by five points.
The Orange and Blue is coming off a massive U.S. Open Cup victory over MLS side Orlando City SC. Miami will now face Atlanta United FC at home in the Round of 16.
Miami’s last NASL match was a convincing 1-0 win on the road against FC Edmonton. Forward Vincenzo Rennella scored the loan goal in that match.
Jacksonville Armada FC is fresh off a 4-1 thumping of Indy Eleven on the road. Jacksonville got two goals from J.C. Banks, sandwiched in between tallies from Jack Blake and Derek Gebhard in a very eventful match.
The match featured five total goals, two red cards (one from each side) and a missed penalty from Blake. Saturday’s match against Miami could be just as eventful if both teams’ current forms continue.
