An incredible final few laps of the 2020 British Grand Prix saw Lewis Hamilton claim the seventh and possibly most dramatic Silverstone win of his career, despite his left-front tyre letting go with half a lap still to go.
Hamilton and team mate Valtteri Bottas had been formation flying for 50 of the 52 laps at Silverstone until tyre drama struck. Second-placed man Bottas was the first to suffer as his tyre deflated on Lap 50, costing him second place, before on the very last lap, Hamilton suffered his own issue.
However, with Max Verstappen having opted to pit a few laps from the end to try and claim fastest lap, Hamilton had enough time in hand to just cross the line first, five seconds ahead of Verstappen and the third placed Ferrari of Charles Leclerc.
McLaren’s Carlos Sainz had been set to finish fourth, but his own last lap tyre issue saw him eventually come home P13, allowing Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo to claim fourth, following a late pass on the sister McLaren of Lando Norris.
Renault’s Esteban Ocon finished sixth, having enjoyed a race-long battle with the Racing Point of Lance Stroll, with Pierre Gasly having enjoyed a fine race to finish seventh for AlphaTauri.
Alex Albon finished eighth for Red Bull, having recovered from a Lap 1 tussle with the Haas of Kevin Magnussen that saw him fall to last, while Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel rounded out the top 10, Vettel holding off a late charge form the recovering Mercedes of Bottas.
Meanwhile, Nico Hulkenberg fans were left disappointed, after the German was unable to take the start when a technical issue was discovered on the RP20 that he’d taken over from Sergio Perez on Friday.

Unas increíbles vueltas finales del Gran Premio de Gran Bretaña de 2020 vieron a Lewis Hamilton reclamar la séptima y posiblemente más dramática victoria de Silverstone de su carrera, a pesar de que su neumático delantero izquierdo se dejó ir a media vuelta.
Hamilton y su compañero de equipo Valtteri Bottas habían estado volando en formación durante 50 de las 52 vueltas en Silverstone hasta que se produjo el drama de los neumáticos. El hombre en segundo lugar, Bottas, fue el primero en sufrir cuando su neumático se desinfló en la vuelta 50, lo que le costó el segundo lugar, antes de que en la última vuelta, Hamilton sufriera su propio problema.
Sin embargo, con Max Verstappen habiendo optado por hacer algunas vueltas desde el final para tratar de reclamar la vuelta más rápida, Hamilton tuvo suficiente tiempo para cruzar la línea primero, cinco segundos por delante de Verstappen y el tercer Ferrari de Charles Leclerc.
Carlos Sainz, de McLaren, estaba listo para terminar cuarto, pero su último problema con los neumáticos de vuelta lo llevó a casa P13, lo que le permitió a Daniel Ricciardo de Renault reclamar el cuarto lugar, luego de un pase tardío sobre la hermana McLaren de Lando Norris.
Esteban Ocon de Renault terminó sexto, después de haber disfrutado de una batalla de toda la carrera con el Racing Point of Lance Stroll, y Pierre Gasly había disfrutado de una excelente carrera para terminar séptimo para AlphaTauri.
Alex Albon terminó octavo para Red Bull, después de haberse recuperado de una pelea en la vuelta 1 con el Haas de Kevin Magnussen que lo vio caer al último, mientras que Lance Stroll y Sebastian Vettel completaron el top 10, Vettel reteniendo una carga tardía del Mercedes en recuperación de Bottas.
Mientras tanto, los fanáticos de Nico Hulkenberg quedaron decepcionados, después de que el alemán no pudo comenzar cuando se descubrió un problema técnico en el RP20 que le había reemplazado a Sergio Pérez el viernes.
