Sevilla’s Vitolo scored the fastest goal in Europa League history as the holders beat Villarreal 3-1 in their last-16 first-leg match.
Vitolo netted after just 13.21 seconds from Kevin Gameiro’s lofted pass almost straight from the kick-off.
The goal beats the previous record, set by AEK’s Ismael Blanco in the inaugural season in 2009, by nearly two seconds.
Goals from Stephane M’bia and Gameiro, either side of Luciano Vietto’s strike for Villarreal, sealed the win.
