Loic Remy was the hero for the second consecutive game, the Frenchman scoring the decisive goal in a hard-fought 2-1 win over Stoke City which extends our lead over second-placed Arsenal to seven points, having played one game less.
It was an eventful evening at Stamford Bridge, with Eden Hazard giving us the lead from the penalty spot six minutes before the break, but Stoke hit back immediately in controversial fashion when Charlie Adam, who moments earlier had left Cesc Fabregas with a bloodied nose, scored from inside his own half after Hazard appeared to have been fouled.
Diego Costa had been introduced as a half-time substitute, but the striker was withdrawn just 11 minutes later after pulling up with an injury, and moments later Remy scored the winner from close range, cpaitalising on a rare mistake from the otherwise outstanding Asmir Begovic.
Juan Cuadrado, who replaced Remy, was then denied by Begovic twice in succession, but we held on for what felt like a huge victory.
