World No. 1 Serena Williams will lead the U.S. Fed Cup team into battle for a challenging tie against Italy in the 2015 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group Play-offs. The tie will be held April 18-19 at the Circolo Tennis Brindisi in Brindisi, Italy.
Venus Williams has withdrawn from the United States team for this weekend’s Fed Cup playoff in Italy because of a personal matter.
U.S. captain Mary Joe Fernandez tells The Associated Press that Williams is not injured and that her withdrawal is not related to any medical condition but rather «something came up.»
