With just 500 seats made available to the general public at 3 p.m. ET, it appeared to take less than a minute for the full allocation to be snapped up by fans desperate to see Mayweather and Pacquiao go head to head at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 2.
Callers to the Ticketmaster phone hotline at 3:01 p.m. received an automated message informing them that tickets were no longer available. It was a similar story on the Ticketmaster and MGM websites, which reported that all available seats had been sold around 30 seconds after the initial release.
Tickets had been made available for prices ranging from $1,500 to $7,500, none of which were the premium floor seats closest to the ring.
