Max Verstappen dice que será difícil para Red Bull replicar su “increíble” temporada 2023 después de que el tres veces campeón del mundo completara su campaña ganadora del título con una victoria en el Gran Premio de Abu Dabi.
Verstappen partió desde la pole y, aunque Charles Leclerc lo empujó en los primeros intercambios, el holandés pudo separarse del resto del campo para lograr su cuarta victoria consecutiva en Abu Dhabi.
Verstappen vence a Leclerc y logra la victoria en Abu Dhabi para terminar un año récord en la cima Cierra un año en el que Verstappen ha batido numerosos récords, como ganar 19 carreras, conseguir 21 podios y convertirse en el primer piloto en liderar más de 1.000 vueltas a lo largo de una temporada.
También logró el total de puntos más alto de todos los tiempos con 575, y el mayor margen de victoria en un campeonato, con una diferencia de 290 puntos con respecto a su compañero de equipo, Sergio Pérez, segundo clasificado.
Reflexionando sobre su temporada, Verstappen dijo: “Una temporada increíble. Fue un poco emotivo en la vuelta de entrada. La última vez que estuve sentado en el coche eso, por supuesto, me ha aportado mucho. Por supuesto, estoy muy orgulloso de ganar aquí, también en la última carrera.
“Pero tengo que darle las gracias a Red Bull, ha sido un año increíble. Será difícil volver a hacer algo similar, pero definitivamente disfrutamos este año”.
Cuando se le preguntó si él y Red Bull pueden mejorar este año, Verstappen respondió: «Sí, será muy difícil tener otra temporada como ésta, lo sabemos». Por supuesto, siempre quieres hacerlo mejor, pero a veces hacerlo mejor no significa solo ganar carreras y potencialmente ganar el campeonato.
“Pero ya veremos. Estamos trabajando duro para el año que viene para volver a tener un coche muy competitivo. Seguramente todos los demás equipos quieren intentar ganarnos. «Estamos listos para la batalla, pero mientras tanto también vamos a disfrutar un poco este año».

Verstappen started from pole and while he was pushed by Charles Leclerc in the opening exchanges, the Dutchman was able to pull away from the rest of the field to take his fourth consecutive win in Abu Dhabi.

It caps a year that has seen Verstappen break numerous records, such as winning 19 races, scoring 21 podium finishes, and becoming the first driver to lead over 1000 laps throughout a season.
He also achieved the highest points total of all time with 575, and the largest winning margin in a championship – with the gap being 290 points to his second-placed team mate Sergio Perez.

Asked whether he and Red Bull can improve on this year, Verstappen replied: “Yeah, will be very hard to have another season like this, we know. Of course, you always want to do better but sometimes doing better is not only race wins and potentially winning the championship.

“But we will see. We are working hard for next year to have again a very competitive car. For sure all the other teams want to try and beat us out there.
«We are ready for the battle but for the meantime as well we are going to enjoy a little bit this year as well.”
Asked to give the final word to fans in the stands at the end of the campaign, Verstappen said: “Yeah, it’s been incredible. Sold out in basically every race we went to.
«Great fans support and also I hope you guys enjoyed the race today and you saw all your favourite drivers do well. And of course, thank you very much for cheering us on.”
