SINGAPORE – WTA Rising Star Garbiñe Muguruza made a bright start to her challenge for the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global with a straight set win over Lucie Safarova on Monday.

Having wrapped up her qualification with back-to-back finals in Wuhan and Beijing, Muguruza had the luxury of a few weeks away from the tour ahead of Singapore. This freshness shone through early on, some monstrous hitting bringing her a break in the third game. With the Spaniard’s own delivery imperious – she surrendered just four points on serve in the opener – the set was soon in the bag.
Safarova rallied in the second, building an early lead, but she was unable to deny Muguruza, who restored parity before closing out a 6-3, 7-6(4) win when the Czech’s forehand found the net.
SINGAPUR – La Estrella en ascenso de la WTA Garbiñe Muguruza empezó brillante el lunes en las Finales WTA BNP Paribas Singapur presentadas por SC Global con una victoria en dos sets ante Lucie Safarova.

SINGAPORE – Angelique Kerber marked her return to the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global with an impressive win over former champion Petra Kvitova on Monday evening.
In her two previous appearances at the season-ending showpiece, in 2012 and 2013, Kerber registered one win from six round robin matches. However, the German, who missed out on last year’s event, doubled this tally by withstanding a late rally to upset No.4 seed Kvitova, 6-2, 7-6(3).

En los dos partidos previo, en el 2012 y 2013,Kerber habia logrado una victoria en seis rondas. de todas formas la Alemana quien no pudo jugar el año pasado este torneo, tuve una categoria demostracion de tenis ante la preclasificada 4, Kvitova a quien supero con parciales de 6-2 y 7-6.
