The NBA is on the verge of a potentially perky 2015-16 season for a variety of reasons, among them: The Western Conference is deeper than Maya Angelou, LeBron James is wearing that intense sneer of redemption, a half dozen A-list stars feel they’re the Best Player In The Game (and each has a case), the reigning champs have yet to fully realize their potential and we could see an all-out brawl for Kia Rookie of the Year.
Last season was stained because of all the injuries. The season before was stained because of all the injuries. And the season before that was … well, point made. Sure, it’s part of the game, it happens all the time and blah, blah, blah, but the rate of injuries — some serious — and the degree in which they’ve robbed the league of superstars was and is alarming (and somewhat unprecedented).
You could argue the 2014-15 championship was won by the healthiest team, not necessarily the best team. And while this is in no way disrespectful to the Warriors, they happened to be good and lucky.
