Nairo Quintana (Movistar) managed to neutralise attacks on the hilly finishing circuit in Barcelona to secure overall victory at the Volta a Catalunya after a thrilling final stage.
The Colombian rider followed a late attack by Dan Martin (Etixx-QuickStep) and other riders to protect his overall lead.
Alberto Contador (Tinkoff) tried an attack on the final lap of the circuit but his move was neutralised. Other attacks followed but the overall contenders finished together.
Alexey Tsatevich (Katusha) won the stage, beating Primoz Roglic (LottoNL-Jumbo) after the two stayed clear from an early break.
