El noruego Sven Erik Bystrom se enfundó el arcoíris en la prueba de fondo Sub 23 al llegar en solitario a la meta de Ponferrada y celebra así la elección de su país como próxima sede de los Mundiales de Ciclismo para el 2017. El pelotón entró al sprint siete segundos más tarde, donde se impuso el gran favorito en las quinielas, Caleb Ewan, por delante de otro noruego, Kristoffer Skjerping, bronce.

Norwegian Sven Erik Bystrom took a superb solo victory in the U23 World Championships Road Race this Friday, 26 September. In an exciting race which exploded into action on the last lap, Bystrom attacked on the final climb of the Alto de Compostilla and managed to hold off the chasing pack by seven seconds. His compatriot Kristoffer Skjerping took bronze in the sprint behind pre-race favourite Caleb Ewan, on a great day for Norwegian cycling.
