LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — The Los Angeles Clippers clinched both a 111-97 win over the Dallas Mavericks and their first-round playoff series in six games Sunday, marking the first time the Clippers advanced to the second round since 2015.
Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard finished with 33 points while shooting 14-of-23 along with 14 rebounds, seven assists and five steals. He became the first player in the last 20 NBA playoffs to have at least 30 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and five steals in a game. It also marked the first time Leonard has scored at least 30 points in five consecutive playoff games.
The Mavericks countered with Luka Doncic, who had 38 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. But Dallas missed forward Kristaps Porzingis, who was ruled out because of a postseason-ending lateral meniscus tear in his right knee.
The Clippers will play the winner of the Denver Nuggets-Utah Jazz series in the Western Conference semifinals. Utah has a 3-2 series lead with Game 6 scheduled for Sunday at 8:30 ET.
