In his first match since lifting the Monte-Carlo trophy on 19 April, World No. 1 Novak Djokovic maximised his time on the court in Rome with a two-hour 6-1, 6-7(5), 6-3 win over Nicolas Almagro at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia on Tuesday.
Djokovic looked to have victory in hand against the former World No. 9 as he raced to a 5-2 lead in the second-set tie-break, but it was Almagro who pulled off five straight points to force the decider.
