As MTN-Qhubeka, the first African trade team to participate to the Tour de France, celebrated the Mandela Day with orange helmets, Britain’s Stephen Cummings came across French duelists Thibaut Pinot and Romain Bardet who had escaped in the uphill finale. He deprived the host country of the victory on the day French Republic president François Hollande was on site. To add to British domination on French roads, Chris Froome increased his lead in the overall ranking.
