Minnesota had won 12 games in a row. The game was the first in any of the four major North American professional sports leagues with each team on a winning streak of at least 12 games, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
The Blue Jackets tied the second-longest winning streak in NHL history (New York Islanders, 1981-82; Pittsburgh Penguins, 2012-13). The 1992-93 Penguins hold the record with 17 straight victories.
