Francois Pervis confirmó que ha vuelto a su mejor nivel con una primera medalla de oro desde el 2015, reclamando un cuarto título mundial en el kilometro, del Mundial celebrado en Honk Kong.
El francés había ganado la disciplina con tres victorias consecutivas de Minsk 2013, Cali 2014 y Yvelines 2015, pero él – junto con el resto de la escuadra francesa – tuvo un Worlds pobre en Londres hace 12 meses, y el bronce en el equipo de velocidad en las Olimpiadas era escaso consuelo para un año enormemente decepcionante.
Pervis reveló el año pasado que los problemas personales estaban afectando sus actuaciones, pero miró hacia atrás a su mejor tiempo cuando marcó 1: 00.714, casi medio segundo más rápido que el checo Thomas Babek y su compatriota Quentin Lafargue, que estaban empatados a milésima de Un segundo y ambos fueron galardonados con el segundo lugar.

Pervis revealed last year that personal problems were affecting his performances, but he looked back to his best as he clocked 1:00.714, almost half a second quicker than Czech Thomas Babek and fellow Frenchman Quentin Lafargue, who were tied on time to the thousandth of a second and were both awarded second place.
